Örebro Volley want to welcome Annie Ertz to the Swedish league and Örebro Volleyball. Annie have played for Towson University and was a big part of their success season when they moved up to the highest ranking ever. Annie has also been playing in the Peruvian league for San Martin de Porres.
Coach Svante had this to say about Annie:
Annie is a smart player with a good receive, she has good leadership qualities and I hope that with these qualities she will help us to reach the goals we have for the season.
We asked Annie a few questions.
Welcome to the club! What made you choose Örebro Volley?
Oh cool! I chose Örebro because everyone I spoke to from the club made really great impressions. There are so many unknowns when it comes to moving to a new country, but with Örebro I just felt a sense of comfort. I have also never been to Sweden before but everyone I have talked to about it says it’s wonderful, which made me feel even more comfortable about my decision.
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I started playing volleyball when I was 11 and immediately fell in love with the sport. After playing 4 years in college, I wasn’t quite ready to be done. I loved the idea of being able to travel while playing volleyball, so I decided to sign my first contract in Peru. Now I am ready to explore a new part of the world. Outside of volleyball I love to play music and sing, but just for fun!
What are you looking forward to the most this coming season?
I am looking forward to a few things. First, I am excited to meet everyone and make new friendships. Second, because I studied history in college, I am excited to visit new place a learn more about the history and culture behind it.
How has your summer been?
My summer has been busy! I am finishing up my Master’s which involves writing a 50 page paper due in a few weeks. I am also nannying full time which has been both fun and tiring. Fortunately, I have been able to make time for family and friends too, so while I have had a lot on my plate, it has been a lot of fun as well!
